Worst final ever yesterday, the questions didn't make sense for the texts assigned and everyone I've talked to is pretty sure they failed, I have another one tomorrow, my computer is basically dead, and someone is practicing bagpipes outside my window (well, somewhere close enough that I can hear them over the traffic on the nearby busy street). Just a few more days right? And probably Wales next week for a day or two, and London on the 13th, then Spain and Graduation and next year Medieval Literature at York (provided I didn't fail the last final and I don't fail the next one). |

| [ | mood |
| | lethargic | ] | YAY! It's reading week, that means no more classes, just exams and then home! I am so excited to have my second first legal drink. Last night was awesome, it is events like these that make me glad I came to St Andrews. First there was a ceilidh at the castle and then a torchlit procession down to the end of the pier. Bryan said it was something he would expect them to do in Harry Potter.
The dance here is the Eightsome Reel which is a lot of fun, probably one of my favorites but Emma and I arrived after they had started dancing so we didn't get to do that one, but we did do the Orcadian Strip the Willow which is also a lot of fun. The torchlit procession by the cathedral:
My friend Laura even got all dressed up in her highland kilt, but she didn't get to do any highland dances so she was a little sad.

| Spring Break |
[Apr. 23rd, 2007|10:17 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | lazy | ] | For spring break this year Emma and I went to Budapest for a few days, spent an afternoon in London, the weekend in Edinburgh, and finally Jessica came to visit in St Andrews for a couple of days. Emma's brother Frankie just moved back to Edinburgh from London so everyone was there for the weekend, it was a lot of fun. We went shopping on Princes Street one afternoon, Emma and Sarah spent obscene amounts of money at Jenners and Monsoon, Johnny and I talked about how really all you need is a t-shirt and jeans and 140 pounds for a cardigan is really a bit much.
When I was in Edinburgh at Armstrong's I got a false mustache, it entertained us for a while when Jessica, Monica, and Carey visited. I also took this pretty picture of the lovely Jessica:

I will see everyone in just about a month! I get back on the 25th, but it looks like I will be out of town that weekend, so call me on the 28th if you are in town! |

So it looks like Kyra is getting married on July 28th at a very cool sounding inn, since she asked me to be her maid of honour she promised me some very pretty earring, so it should be a good time. Also we (Emma, Zoe, Shona, and I) got a house for next year, it's awesome, the oven isn't very big, but there are two little ovens, so I think I will be able to handle it. I finally got my grades back, and I am happy with them, so the start of the semester should be fairly stress free! It will also be nice to have people back in town, st andrews is very boring with out people, I slept a lot the past two weeks. |

I just thought I would share a couple of photos from the awesome 80s party I went to earlier this year, and yes, I did wear blue eyeshadow and a matching pony-o.

A note to Julie to begin with: So sorry I have (once again) not been a very good lj whore.
And in other news I have internet. Also, I would like for everyone to take a moment to remember the awesomeness of my sunglasses which, sadly, were broken sometime during the unpacking process:

Every effort is being made to repair them, but I guess superglue just isn't that super. |

So I'm back in Scotland now--until tomorrow at least. I'm excited about going to Ireland, but I am also looking forward to getting into Hall on the 16th and just NOT GOING ANYWHERE for a while. The last week and half has been crazy... Poughkeepsie with Kyra (and NYC for a day, I am not allowed in ANY bookstore with my wallet ever again!) Cannon Beach with the olds and Aged A and Dave Flying to Edinburgh, touring Jenna around (YAY I didn't get lost) the airline losing one of my bags and Jenna's bag (both of which were with her) the airline finding the bag and me spending a lot of money at HMV. Ireland should be awesome tomorrow, I just hope I won't be too jet lagged! |

I saw a dead raccoon on the side of the road today, it was kinda sad. Julie says I need to be more of an lj whore, so here goes... Pellie the guinea pig got neutered today, he also got his teeth clipped, poor baby, his day sucked. I got reading glasses today, I guess I read way to much, oh well. I also buy too many books, and now that I am teaching myself to spin my own yarn I am spending too much on fibers as well. On the bright side I am becoming a very freaking hard core knitter, pretty bad ass actually, don't mess with me and my homespun yarn...grrrr! I go to NY soon, and then I go back to school and I will be very sad because I will no longer have a kick ass discount at an awesome bookstore. I got the most awesome prezzie at Powell's for Emma's birthday (which was April 15th, which is why I need to get an awesome present) it is a giant microbe, of Flesh Eating Disease. It has a little knife and fork. How freaking cool is that? I am going to get the plague microbe and name him Morty, because I am that nerdy. Anyway, my computer has its new hard drive, and it seems to be working and happy again. YAY! |

My computer needs a new harddrive, which sucks, I have had to clear everything off and I am sure I have lost a lot of stuff--especially music and pictures. On the bright side I found an awesome purple coat for $3! I will post pictures if my computer ever gets better. |

I'm finally going to get off my lazy ass (metaphorically, I'm still sitting on my lazy ass after a 8 hour day at work) and post some pictures from my zoo trip with Emily and Joscelyn:

| A Summer Update |
[Jun. 20th, 2006|06:33 am] |
Working at Powell's is fun, of course, on Saturday two pirates came in to fix a broken plastic sward with tape. Ah, the wonders of downtown at ten at night. I also forgot it was 1.) Gay Pride this weekend, and 2.) Fathers Day. Yeah, I'm that good. I'm kinda sad I didn't get to go down and see any of the parade for pride this sunday, I was right there! But I was working, a lot of people came in after it was crazy-busy at really weird times this week. That's about all I have to say right now, actually I have more, but I can't remember what it was. Oh well.
Wednesday, 7:30/8:00ish, my place, coffee later for solstice. |

Summer is here! And it isn't just the 3:30 sunrise that is telling me! I had my last final today, it went ok, but I only need a pass in the class so it is all good. Home in just a few days, I'm excited. A week from now I will be starting work, which is awesome. YAY! I love that it stays light until almost 11 now. |

Well, for good or bad I have finished with second year English. The exam was ok, I didn't kick its ass, but it didn't kick mine--more just bitch slapping all around Younger Hall. Followed by tasty banana bread. Tomorrow is Modern Philosophy, then I get two whole days before my next one (ethics) and another two whole days before philosophy of the mind. I might go down to Edinburgh on wednesday though, which would mean I finish my exam on Tuesday afternoon and leave for the summer sometime on wednesday, which would be crazy. On the bright side it would mean I could go to HMV (music, movies, all that sort of good stuff) and spend the 50 pound gift card I won. YAY! Home in 10 days, Powells in 14. |

I have a job! YAY! I start at Powell's on the 30th. This should mean I can save enough over the summer to go to Germany and Spain next year! And visit Kirsten in London for the weekend. I still can't get over how fun it is to say "oh, yeah, just popping down to London for the weekend." or better yet "oh yeah, we'll spend the weekend in Paris, and then head over to Edinburgh for a few days, just to you know, relax." |

| Our library is a joke |
[May. 8th, 2006|10:43 am] |
|
St Andrews University wouldn't know what a library was if one sodomized it to death. It is total crap, if you are thinking about or are going to study here don't bother going to the library, it is useless, the staff is useless, and most of the books people need are in some language that makes no sense with the subject of the book. If the library were to be destroyed tomorrow the only pity would be that it hadn't happened earlier. |
